Full Job Description

PNTA is seeking to hire a part-time Lighting Designer (L1) to support our growing team and operations. All shifts are paid at a minimum of 4 hours and can vary from full days to 1-2hr requirements. Shifts are available every day of the week, during and after business hours. Since 1975, PNTA has served our local theater, nonprofit, and corporate communities through retail services, production rentals, systems integration, and event production. Our goal is to provide our clients with excellent customer service, clear communication, creative concepts for their productions, and flawless execution on deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining company safety standards in accordance with OSHA guidelines

  • Maintain excellent customer interactions when working on site

  • Displaying a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and kindness with clients and coworkers

    • Leading small teams of Grips loading in and setting up lighting equipment on site per instructions from Project Management

Qualifications


Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Capacity to work flexible hours including evenings, afterhours, and weekends

  • Dependability and punctuality

  • Hard-working and self-disciplined

  • Able to work well independently as well as with others

  • Flexible, able to respond with calm efficiency to unexpected or challenging situations

  • Ability to:

    • Facilitate client relations and convert client expectations into reality

    • Manage a crew

    • Manage data distribution (DMX, WDMX, Datagate, RDM, ArtNet, SACN, Multiverse)

    • Manage large scale DMX distribution (3 or more universe)

    • Independently handle lighting design and complex programming

    • Program movers, battens, FX lights and peripherals

    • Understand rigging loads, power distribution and load balancing

    • Develop plot sand distribution plans (Vectorworks, LightWright, Augment 3D)

    • Program cue stacks, busk at live events, program macros and create magic sheets)

    • Confident with EOS, GrandMA and Hog consoles

Preferred

  • Knowledge of local event services vendors

  • Familiarity with local venues and the Greater Seattle area

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
